Favorite Math Practice Websites!!!

I want to share with teachers a fun website that allows students to play games, you to use differentiated instruction and to check progress..

www.mangahigh.com and Yes, IT'S FREE! All you have to do is register your school, there are some pay parts but they have an amazing amount of free material available.

When a student logins all they see is the games and they have them from order of operations all the way up to factoring..

But the best part is the Quizzes only teachers can upload for their students, called challenges.

Also as a teacher you can view what level each student scored on the current challenge. (who is doing great and who needs extra help)

Fav Friday: Math Basketball

Back with this week's selection for My Favorite Friday.

Many of you know my favorite review game is Thrashketball! It can be found on this blog for more info.

I got an email asking me do I always do the Thrashketball set up for this game. Placing the kids on teams, etc.. It can be time consuming. My answer is no.. There is a quick way to review Basketball Style and have fun..

The only modification is, I don't usually give out extra credit, but I try to keep candy handy :), for the winning team.

Review game: Trashketball

I love this game! I thought by now, I would have uploaded at least one of these. But alas, I hadn't. Today however is different. I am teaching summer school so it gave me a chance to tweak and try new things. So here is an updated Trashketball game for Exponential and Logarithm Functions.

I'm Back.Again..And Another Relay Race..

I know, I know, I have been gone for a long time. But I am back I promise to update at least once a week for the next 8 weeks :). We are on summer vacation in Georgia, but I am teaching Second Semester Alg II in Summer School. So I will be working for 4 weeks.

Our Second Semester Alg II consists of Expo and Log Functions, Conics and Probability ( Binomial Distributions and Normal Distributions)

More Math Sprints or is that Relay Race?

I am teaching Algebra II this year and I have already done Math Sprints on Log Functions it is a One Day Activity and I am also updating one I did on Circles, finding the tangent line, solving systems, etc...

Treasure Hunt Activity

I am big into activities that I think engage the students. One such activity is a treasure hunt Dan Meyer style the king of math blogs. Here is a link to his stations Treasure Hunt Meyer.

Basically it is a review activity.  You have anywhere from 8-16 stations. Even though, trust me 8 is usually enough they take anywhere from 30-50 minutes. Students in groups of 2-3 do multiple choice problems and depending on the answer they get it sends them to the next problem. If they get sent back to the same problem twice, they made a mistake and you ask them to give you the order in which they did each problem and tell them where they went wrong.
